Intoxicated Winder man sets fire to apartment

WINDER -- An intoxicated Winder man admitted he set fire to an apartment following a disagreement with a landlord.

Richard Evan Page, 33, was arrested and charged last week with first degree arson and second degree criminal damage to property, said Barrow County Sheriff Lt. Matt Guthas. The Sheriff's Office made the arrest after a two-week investigation at Page's residence at 315 East Wright St., Apartment B.

Although the fire consumed the entire residence, no one was injured in the March 19 blaze.

Page initially denied that he knew how the fire started, but later admitted to setting it, Guthas said.

Guthas said Page remains in the Barrow County Detention Center.
