PREP ROUNDUP: Whitner keys Mountain View rally over Duluth

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Kielan Whitner had a two-run single as Mountain View scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Duluth 4-3 on Friday.

Forrest Girardeau and Luis Vilchez each had two hits for the Bears (10-8, 3-2), including back-to-back doubles to begin the seventh.

Beau Blair picked up the win on the mound, throwing a complete game with five hits and nine strikeouts.

BASEBALL

Wesleyan 6, Lovett 0

ATLANTA -- Wesleyan got a complete-game from Johnny Richards in a 6-0 win over Lovett on Friday. Richards gave up four hits and struck out two in the shutout.

Grant Colton led the way with a three-run home run, while Griffin Bone was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jahmai Jones also went 2-for-3 with a double.

The win moved the Wolves to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the Region 6-AA.

Dacula 14, Central 3

DACULA -- Dacula moved to 6-11 on the year and 3-5 in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 14-3 win in five innings over Central on Friday.

Chance Keefer picked up the win for the Falcons, throwing four innings and giving up five hits while striking out four.

Austin Collins went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Brandon Ake was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Henry Mesa had three RBIs, and Josh Bullock had two RBIs.

Matt Jones contributed an RBI and Matt Nigh was 2-for-3.

Shiloh 10, Archer 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Shiloh moved to 9-9 on the year and 4-4 in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 10-1 win over Archer on Friday.

Brandon Hill picked up the win on the mound, going five innings with five strikeouts. He also had two hits and an RBI at the plate.

JaMarkus George went two innings with two strikeouts to finish the game for the Generals.

Marcus McCorkle was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cletus Avery was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Gilberto Lopez also contributed two hits.

Providence 9, Hebron 1

LILBURN -- Providence moved to 8-9 on the year and 8-2 in Region 8-A with a 9-1 win over Hebron on Friday.

Erich Stahl picked up the win on the mound, going five innings, giving up two hits and striking out four.

Max Broom was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs, while Steven Kleinschmidt was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs. Justin Brew chipped in a double, while Charlie Scott was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Lanier 14, Lumpkin Co. 6

DAHLONEGA -- Lanier moved to 12-5 on the year and 5-2 in Region 8-AAAA with a 14-6 win over Lumpkin County on Friday.

Trenton Little picked up the win on the mound for the Longhorns, going 6 innings and scattering eight hits with five strikeouts.

Kristoff Rietig was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while CJ Wismer had three RBIs. Matthew Ramsay and Little were each 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while T.J. Richardson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Blake Forte also contributed two hits, including an RBI triple.

BOYS SOCCER

Wesleyan 3, Lovett 1

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan moved to 4-6-2 on the year and 1-2 in Region 6-AA with a 3-1 upset of No. 4 state-ranked Lovett on Friday.

Cort Coxhead had two goals and an assist for the Wolves, while Will Sharon had one goal.

Carter Flachbarth picked up the win in goal with nine saves.

Meadowcreek 3, Mountain View 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Meadowcreek moved to 9-2-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over Mountain View in Region 7-AAAAAA play Friday.

Christopher Morgan, Jaime Ramirez and Manuel Almendarez each scored a goal for the Mustangs.

GIRLS SOCCER

Mountain View 7, Meadowcreek 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View moved to 5-7 on the season and 2-4 in Region 7-AAAAAA with a 7-0 win over Meadowcreek on Friday.

Ashley Lewis had two goals and an assist, while Shelby Gray had two goals. A'lea Hathcock, Ansley Roley and Nadia Aghaie also contributed one goal apiece.

Katie Darby and Victoria Botz combined for the shutout in goal for the Bears.
