Touch-a-truck, baseball contest coming to Sugar Hill

SUGAR HILL -- Sugar Hill's popular "touch-a-truck" event is back and will run concurrently with a new, sportier endeavor for kids.

The fourth annual touch-a-truck event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. April 20 at E.E. Robinson Park. The free gathering will let kids (and adults) climb in and around heavy-duty trucks and construction gear, including front-end loaders, dump trucks, fire trucks and police cars.

Inflatable rides, a DJ and concessions will also be available.

Starting at 1 p.m. the same day, boys and girls ages 7 to 14 will have to opportunity to participate in Major League Baseball's "Pitch, Hit and Run" competition -- described as a "grassroots program designed to provide the opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball and softball skills."

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a waiver prior to competing. The event will be held at E.E. Robinson Park, baseball fields 6 and 7.
