PREP ROUNDUP: North stays unbeaten in Region 7 play

NORCROSS -- North Gwinnett remained undefeated in region play after a 5-3 victory over Norcross on Saturday.

Michael Haynes (4-1) was the winning pitcher in relief, allowing no hits, one walk and one strikeout. Haynes was also 2-for-4 with an RBI and a triple to score the tying run in a seventh-inning rally. He drove in Blake Sangster, who singled with two outs and nobody on in the seventh, with North trailing 3-2 at the time.

Zayne Stringer followed with a game-winning, two-run double to complete the comeback.

Cody Short was 2-for-4 and Ben Carswell had an RBI and a double for the Bulldogs (12-5, 5-0).


Mill Creek 4, Peachtree Ridge 0

SUWANEE -- Cody Pugh pitched a complete game shutout in Mill Creek's 4-0 victory over Peachtree Ridge on Saturday.

Pugh allowed five hits, no runs and struck out five. Walker Boyd was 2-for-4 with a homer and a triple.

Logan Moseley was 2-for-3, Bryan Hudson was 3-for-4 with two triples and Kyle Abernatethy was 2-for-3 for the Hawks (10-6, 4-1).

Lovett 2, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan lost to Lovett 2-1 on Saturday.

Christian Stark was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Pierce Ostwalt was 1-for-3 with a double for the Wolves (11-4, 4-2).

GAC sweeps doubleheader

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian won a doubleheader over visiting Charter Hapeville 16-0 and 25-0 on Saturday.

Carter Willyerd was the winning pitcher in Game 1. Chad Arnold and Justin Lewis had two hits each and Greg Burland added a home run for the Spartans (9-7, 3-3).

Wes Bucher was the winning pitcher in Game 2. Jackson O'Brien and Burland each had two hits. Connor Joseph, Devin Daugherty and Justin Lewis had three hits each. Lewis also had a home run.

Calvary Day 12, Hebron 9

DACULA -- Drew Coker went 2-for-3 with four RBIs in Hebron's 12-9 loss to Calvary Day on Saturday.

Nathan Holt went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Sid Turner was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Shane Smith was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Lions (7-8, 6-3).


Wesleyan boys place 13th

VIDALIA -- Wesleyan placed 13th out of 26 teams at the Vidalia Invitational on Saturday.

Cody Solomon shot 155 over the two-day 36-hole tournament.
