Duluth wants to 'capture the spirit' with photo contest

DULUTH -- Hey shutterbugs, here's your time to snap and shine.

The city of Duluth is hosting the "Capture the Spirit of Good Living" photo contest, asking residents to enter photos from around the city. Submissions are due June 7.

The images can range from shops and parks to people and events -- anything that "captures the spirit" of living in Duluth.

The top winner will have their photo featured on the cover of "Duluth Life." The other winners will see their shots hung in City Hall, plus possibly used in marketing material for the city.

Here are the rules:

-- Only original photos are accepted.

-- The subject of each entry must be located in Duluth.

-- Photos must be a resolution of 300 dpi or better.

-- There is no limit to the number of entries by each artist, but each piece must include a separate application.

-- Ask permission before taking photos of any people or business to get consent because some of the photos will be used in marketing for the city of Duluth.

Entries must be turned in by 5 p.m. June 7. For more information and to find the application, visit www.duluthga.net.
