LETTERS: Elected officials should represent us

In Camie Young's recent article on immigration reform ("Immigration reform needs public's help, leaders say," April 5, 1A) the term "leader" was used multiple times to describe elected "representatives".

In theory, these people were elected to promote and act upon issues in keeping with those they "represent." Let's remember that these elected people work for us and not the other way around.

There are very few leaders in Washington. Let's start there. If a politician doesn't vote the way you want on immigration, vote them out. How hard can that be? Remember, it is our government who has passed the immigration laws we have and it is that same government who doesn't even enforce their laws. What ever happened to swearing and taking an oath to uphold laws of the land? That just goes to show you maybe how much "your" legislator follows the law 24/7.
