Hit .244 in 141 games last year, helping the San Francisco Giants to a World Series championship. On the Giants' active roster this season.
Diory Hernandez, SS
Split time between Pacific Coast League's Oklahoma City and Iowa last season, hitting .223 in 92 games. Playing this season with the Campeche Pirates in Mexico.
Brandon Jones, LF
Played 97 games with Kansas City T-Bones of the independent American Association, hitting .326. Is on the T-Bones' 2013 roster.
Barbaro Canizares, 1B
Currently playing for Guerreros de Oaxaca, where he has played since 2011, in the Mexican League. Last year hit .348 with 28 home runs.
Brooks Conrad, 2B
Bounced back-and-forth from Class AAA and MLB with both Milwaukee and Tampa Bay last year. Hit .133 in 49 games with four home runs and two errors, playing every infield position. Playing this season for Hanshin Tigers in Japan.
Joe Borchard, DH
Released later that week. Last played in 2011 with independent Bridgeport and is now retired. Was in just 24 games, hitting .229 with three home runs.
Van Pope, 3B
Played 53 games with independent Amarillo last year, returning to 3B after attempting to transition to pitcher. Hit .281.
JC Boscan, C
Split time between Atlanta and Gwinnett a season ago before joining the Cubs organization in the offseason. Currently plays for the Cubs' AAA affiliate, Iowa of the Pacific Coast League.
Reid Gorecki, RF
Split time between two independent league teams -- the Long Island Ducks and the Camden (N.J.) Riversharks -- in 2012, playing in 108 games and hitting .271 with 11 home runs.
Tommy Hanson, SP
Went 13-10 with a 4.48 ERA with the Atlanta Braves last year. Traded to the Angels in the offseason for relief pitcher Jordan Walden and is current on their active roster.
