LAWRENCEVILLE -- Dr. Carol Terry, Gwinnett's chief medical examiner, was recently named 2012 medical examiner of the year by one statewide organization.

Terry was granted the honor by the State Child Fatality Review, a division within the Office of the Child Advocate. Every county in the state has a child fatality review committee, which "reviews the deaths of all child under 18 years of age, whose death is sudden, unexpected or unexplained."

Each year the State Child Fatality Review recognizes a child fatality review committee of the year and a medical examiner of the year. Terry was recently presented the latter award by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle.
