LAWRENCEVILLE -- For the Month of the Military Child, there will be a celebration and recognition ceremony in Lawrenceville with the theme Military Children: Proud, Ready & Resistant. At the celebration, there will be dancing, music, karaoke, games, food, and prizes. This event will be honoring the children who have parents in the military as well as the children of local first responders. Guests are asked to Purple Up for the event, and there will be an award to whoever Purples Up the best.
The celebration is being held from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. on April 6, with the recognition ceremony at noon, at the Lawrenceville Armory, but parking is at 100 East Crogan Street in Lawrenceville with Georgia Trolley Services Shuttle to the event. For more information, call 678-569-5790.
UGA Army ROTC plans inaugural golf tournament
ATHENS -- The University of Georgia ROTC is holding a golf tournament on April 19 at the University of Georgia Golf Course to help support the AROTC Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund and donate additional proceeds to the Wounded Warrior program.
The golf tournament will be following a typical best-ball scramble format with a shotgun start at noon. A meal will be provided at 11 a.m. during registration and check-in, and dinner will be provided at 5 p.m. Tournament awards and prizes will be given out immediately following dinner.
Registration is $100 per player, which includes greens fee, cart, driving range balls, golfer gift bag, lunch and dinner. Golfers interested in participating can contact Kevin Fracassa at 706 542-0566 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
