A decorated overseas career has earned Norcross grad D'Andra Moss a coveted WNBA contract.
Moss signed with the Chicago Sky on Tuesday afternoon, giving the high-scoring guard/forward her first opportunity with a WNBA team since she signed her first professional contract in 2011. She currently plays for Liomatic Umbertide in Italy, but also has played for teams in Finland and Spain since finishing her college career at Virginia Commonwealth.
Terms of the contract weren't released, but it is believed to be a training camp contract.
"I'm thrilled and honored that Coach Pokey and the Chicago Sky have given me the opportunity to showcase my talents," Moss said in a team release. "This has been a dream come true and I hope to capitalize on it by making the final roster in May."
Moss averaged 17.7 points and was an All-Colonial Athletic Association first-teamer as a VCU senior, but she has become an even more consistent scorer at the pro level. She averaged 25.1 points and 12.3 rebounds with Torpan Pojat Helsinki in Finland for the 2011 season, leading the league in scoring.
She followed that up by leading the tough Spanish Women's League, which included top WNBA talent like Collins Hill grad Maya Moore, in scoring. She averaged 20.2 points that season for Gran Canaria.
Before joining the Sky, Moss will finish the playoffs with Liomatic Umbertide. She averages 16.5 points and 6.4 rebounds this season.
Moss joins two other Gwinnett products currently in the WNBA -- Moore, who plays for the Minnesota Lynx, and the Tulsa Shock's Amber Holt, a Meadowcreek grad.
