LAWRENCEVILLE -- Gwinnett County students interested in exploring innovative career fields can learn how during the upcoming Gwinnett County Public Schools College and Career Education Fair.
Maxwell High School of Technology -- the district's technical education charter school -- will hold the event from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the school, which is located at 990 McElvaney Lane in Lawrenceville.

GCPS educators will talk to students about how they can learn core academic skills and the ability to apply those skills to real-life situations in order to function in the workplace.
Educators also will share employability skills such as critical thinking and responsibility that are essential in any career area, as well as job-specific, technical skills related to a specific career pathway.
The College and Career Fair is open to all GCPS high school students, their parents, high school counselors, teachers and other educators.
More than 50 representatives from higher education institutions will take part in the event, speaking with students about future career pathways.
