ATLANTA -- A Gwinnett woman was killed and another charged in an early morning crash Saturday in Midtown Atlanta, officials said.
The one-vehicle accident happened about 5 a.m. on the ramp from Interstate 75 south to I-85 north known as the Brookwood Interchange.
Atlanta police said Duluth resident Stephanie Jang, 20, was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla and left the side of the roadway as she tried to enter I-85 northbound.
The car struck an embankment and injured all three people inside, said Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos.
Jang and one passenger were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, while Suwanee resident Patricia Lie, 21, died at the scene.
A representative with the Fulton County Medical Examiners Office said an exact cause of death was pending Saturday afternoon. A police investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
Jang has been charged with DUI, reckless driving, homicide by vehicle and failure to maintain lane, Campos said.
