Finding games this season was tough for Atlanta area private schools, who had to fill out their schedules with some long road trips. The Wolves are included in that group, with a trip to Louisville for this matchup followed by a drive to the Webb School (Tenn.) next week. The road trip to Jefferson County is roughly three hours.

“In terms of a trip, it will feel a lot like Twiggs County last year, but long trips have never really bothered us,” Wesleyan head coach Franklin Pridgen said.

Wesleyan, Jefferson County’s Homecoming opponent, enters the game on a high note with three straight victories, the most recent an emotional win over Brookstone, which was coached by two former Wolves coaches. Quarterback Will Anderson had another solid game, thanks to Griffin Bone and the offensive line. The defense also was stout and Rhett Delk was the hero again, kicking a 49-yard, game-winning field goal as time expired.

Pridgen expects a similar fight from Jefferson County.

“It’s a great opponent with good players and good schemes,” the Wesleyan coach said. “To be honest, I’ve enjoyed the challenge of preparing for them. They have two quarterbacks who rotate, lots of good playmakers in space, a huge line and an aggressive defense that will blitz and come after us.”
