NORCROSS -- Gwinnett police on Tuesday identified a motorcyclist killed in a chain-reaction, rush-hour crash Monday as a 38-year-old McDonough man.
Brandon Roy was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson when he was struck about 5 p.m. on Beaver Ruin Road at Interstate 85. He died on the scene, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter.
A preliminary accident investigation has shown that 42-year-old Dacula resident Kenneth Griffin was traveling westbound in the left turn lane on Beaver Ruin Road when he failed to stop, causing a chain-reaction crash that included three other cars and the motorcycle, which were waiting to turn left at the traffic light, Ritter said.
Griffin and the drivers of two other cars were transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Ritter said. One driver was not injured.
An investigation continues, and charges are pending against Griffin, Ritter said.

Poor soul, sitting there minding his own dang business, and some fool comes along and causes a disaster that takes the man's life. Prayers for everyone involved, nobody makes it out of this mess without mental torture.

If this was caused by a distracted driver (cell phone, texting, etc.), the penalty hopefully, will be vehicular homicide and driving impaired. Studies have shown that texting or talking on a cell phone while driving is WORSE than being drunk behind the wheel! Please, please, please people! Your one and ONLY job when behind the wheel is DRIVING THE CAR. NOTHING else matters and NOTHING is so important that it can't wait long enough for you to pull over for 30 seconds to answer that call or read that text. A man is dead and others are injured because someone simply wasn't paying attention to the road. Sickening and selfish behavior!
