PREP ROUNDUP: North Gwinnett's Hall no-hits Norcross

SUWANEE -- Alaina Hall of North Gwinnett made the most of senior night as she no-hit Norcross in North's 15-0 win over the Blue Devils in three innings on Tuesday night.

Leading the offense for North (17-5-2, 5-1) were seniors Ashley Stephan (home run and three RBIs), Hall (4-for-4, three RBIs), Mallory Koepke (two hits, two RBIs), Amanda Shimmin (RBI) and Katie Black (two RBIs).

Randi Tuck also had a double and two RBIs, while Draven Sonnon had an RBI and a double.

SOFTBALL

Peachtree Ridge 8, Habersham Central 1

MOUNT AIRY -- Savanna Turvy of Peachtree Ridge went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs on Tuesday night in leading the Lions 8-1 over Habersham Central in Region 7-AAAAAA action.

Andie McGregor added three hits and two RBIs for the Lions (21-2, 6-0), while Sam Pierannunzi went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Quinn Hill (11-2) was the winning pitcher, going seven innings with six hits and seven strikeouts.

Mill Creek 10, Mountain View 4

HOSCHTON -- Taylor Rogers had three hits and scored three runs to help give Mill Creek a 10-4 win over Mountain View on Tuesday night in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Lauren Bennett also went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run for the Hawks (15-10-1, 4-2), while Christina Evans was 2-for-3 with two runs. Kaitlyn Howell added two hits and two RBIs, while Emily Lawrence had a hit and drove in one.

Howell (5-3) also recorded the win on the mound, giving 5 innings in relief with one run on four hits with two strikeouts.

Collins Hill 4, Duluth 0

SUWANEE -- Aeshia Miles of Collins Hill pitched a gem on Tuesday night, allowing just two hits with 12 strikeouts as the Eagles blanked Duluth 4-0 in Region 7-AAAAAA play.

The top offensive player for the Eagles (17-8, 4-2) was Payton Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs. Calli Star added a double, while Laine Simmons went 1-for-2.

Brookwood 8, Grayson 0

SNELLVILLE -- Ansley Jones allowed one hit and struck out one in leading Brookwood to an 8-0 shutout over Grayson on Tuesday night in a non-region game.

On offense, Courtney Ross had a double with two RBIs, while Amanda Ablan went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI. Amanda Falcon added one hit with an RBI and a rum, while Danielle Ulloa recorded one hit and scored one run.

Brookwood's overall record moved to 18-10, while its Region 8-AAAAAA mark stayed at 5-1.

Archer 10, Oconee Co. 0

WATKINSVILE -- Nani Cabrales improved her record to 14-2 on Tuesday as Archer blanked Oconee County 10-0 in six innings.

Cabrales earned the win by allowing three hits and striking out five, while going 2-for-5 at the plate.

Abby Lyall led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a grand slam, while Alesha Mann also homered and drove in two. Jacquie Switzer also had two hits and two RBIs, while Tahra Johnson went 2-for-5 and Brittnay Marasett finished 3-for-3. Archer improved to 23-5.

Lanier splits doubleheader

SUGAR HILL -- Lanier opened its Region 8-AAAA tournament with a split against Eastside on Tuesday night, winning the opener 5-0 but getting clipped in the nightcap 2-1. The third and deciding game will be played tonight at Lanier at 5:55 p.m.

Kaylee Ramos pitched a complete-game shutout with 12 strikeouts in the 5-0 win, also helping herself at the play by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Noelle Petty (3-for-4, run), Hannah Coursey (2-for-3) and Amberly Hays (2-for-3, RBI) also each had strong games.

Keisha Stone also delivered a complete game in the second contest, striking out six along the way, but the two runs allowed proved to be enough for Eastside. Lauren Pettit was the offensive leader for the Longhorns by going 2-for-3.

Buford 5, St. Pius 2

BUFORD -- Buford celebrated Senior Night with a 5-2 win over St. Pius on Tuesday night in Region 7-AAA action.

Winning pitcher was Bekah Rude (5-0), who went seven innings with three hits, three walks and two earned runs.Leading the offense was Jazmin Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI, stolen base and a run. Taylor Nesmith added two hits and an RBI, while Noah Sudderth had a double and an RBI.

Buford (19-1, 6-0) will host Dawson County tonight at 5:55 p.m. in a make up of a game rained out last week. Dawson County is also undefeated in the region and tonight's winner will determine the top seed in this weekend's region tournament.

Dacula 9, Parkview 1

DACULA -- Kendra Pfister of Dacula had two hits and two RBIs on Tuesday night and allowed just one earned run on four strikeouts on the mound as the Falcons topped Parkview 9-1 in Region 8-AAAAAA action.

Katie Daniels also had a big hit on offense with a three-run double, while Kristin Lizardi went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Dacula improved to 11-13-1 overall and 3-3 in the region.

GAC 14, Westminster 6

NORCROSS -- Stephanie McIntosh of Greater Atlanta Christian had a triple with four RBIs and two runs on Tuesday night as the Spartans cruised to a 14-6 win over Westminster.

Mary Johnson added two hits with two RBIs and three runs, while Meghan Mitchell had a double, run and two RBIs. Also helping in the attack were Grace DeBoer and Courtney Czetnar with two runs each.

Jada Lake recorded the win on the mound as GAC improved to 10-8 overall and 4-2 in Region 6-AA.

Lovett 18, Wesleyan 17

ATLANTA -- Lovett scored 10 runs in the final two innings to come back and steal an 18-17 win over Wesleyan on Tuesday night in a Region 6-AA game.

Katie Frerking went 4-for-6 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs for the Wolves (20-5, 5-1), while Cara Mia Tsirigos was 2-for-4 with two walks, a double, three RBIs and three runs.

Commerce 12, Providence 7

LILBURN -- Brittany Tuttle of Providence went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs on Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough as Commerce topped the Storm 12-7 in Region 8-A.

Jessie Kowalewicz added an RBI double, while Allison James drove in two runs on a double. Amber Roberts also had a hit with two RBIs and a run for Providence (4-17-2, 2-7).

Grayson goes 5-0-1 in Brookwood tourney

SNELLVILLE -- Grayson had a strong showing in the Brookwood Invitational tournament this past weekend by going 5-0-1.

Grayson beat Lanier 3-0, Apalachee 9-5, Lowndes 4-1 and Starr's Mill 7-5, while tying East Coweta 2-2.

Peyton Glover (8-4-1) picked up three of the wins on the mound, while Jen Spangler (7-4-1) recorded two wins and one save.

Top hitters for the Rams (15-10-1) were Taylor Denton with nine, Glover with six, Amber Miller with five (including a grand slam) and Sierra Smith with three.

VOLLEYBALL

Parkview stays unbeaten in area play

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Parkview improved to 4-0 in Area 7-AAAAAA on Tuesday night by posting sweeps over Central Gwinnett (25-13, 25-17) and Berkmar (25-16, 25-13).

Leaders for the Panthers were Riley Weyher with 12 digs, six aces, six kills and one block, Cori Harber with 23 assists, seven aces and four digs and Vickie Harries with five kills, one dig and one ace.

Brookwood sweeps Dacula

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood's seniors delivered on Tuesday night as the Broncos swept Dacula in three games 25-9, 25-13, 25-5 in an Area 7-AAAAAA match on Senior Night.

The win improved the Broncos to 16-16 overall and 4-0 in the area.

Norcross sweeps, Duluth earns split

NORCROSS -- Duluth went 1-1 on Tuesday night as the Wildcats loss to Norcross 25-12, 25-7 but rebounded to sweep Meadowcreek 25-17, 25-16.

Duluth's record moved to 5-22 overall and 0-4 in Area 6-AAAAAA.

After topping Duluth, Norcross (29-4, 7-0) moved on to beat Meadowcreek in two games 25-9, 25-20. Leading Norcross were seniors Javonne Stanfield (10 kills, seven aces), Emma Wheaton (seven kills, five aces), Louisa Luranc (10 digs) and Sarah Ann Gratwick (19 assists).

GAC tops Wesleyan

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian squared off with Area 6-AA and city rival Wesleyan on Tuesday night and came away with a 25-13, 25-22 win over the Wolves.

The Spartans (21-8, 5-1) also scored sweeps over Jefferson (25-17, 25-17) and Rabun County (25-7, 25-17). Leaders for GAC were Emma Taylor with 24 kills, Tayler McPherson with 14 kills, Emily Becker with 20 digs, Jaimisha Patel with four blocks and Jennie McCarty with 46 assists.

Wesleyan bounced back to win its next two matches, sweeping Rabun County (25-8, 25-14) and Jefferson (25-7, 25-15). Top players for Wesleyan (22-10, 5-1) were Lauren Frerking (14 kills, six aces), Anna Davis (13 kills), Hannah Hoskin (11 kills, nine digs), Kendra Koetter (51 assists, 17 digs)and Jennifer Miller (30 digs, seven assists).

Buford goes 1-1

BUFORD -- Buford's Senior Night resulted in one win and one loss as the Wolves fell to Blessed Trinity in two games 25-21, 25-5 but topped Cross Keys 25-8, 25-6.

Leading Buford (14-14) in kills was Maggie Roper with six, while Kaitlyn Tatum and Ashleigh Walden each had five. Tori Payton led the team in assists with 14, while Myra Sanchez followed with 13.

Hebron sweeps Prince Avenue

DACULA -- Anna Katherine Wilson logged 19 assists on Tuesday night in pacing Hebron to a 25-12, 25-7 sweep over Prince Avenue in Area 6-A action.

Also helping in the win were Eden Murray with five kills and three blocks, Ashleigh Thomas with six kills and Bridgette Oduro with five aces and four kills. Hebron improved to 25-10 overall and 4-1 in the area.

Providence ends night with split

MONROE -- Providence fought George Walton Academy on Tuesday night but came up short as the Storm lost in three games to the Bulldogs, the third-ranked team in Class A.

The night ended on a strong note as the Storm (21-10) swept Lakeview in two games. Top players for Providence were Kat Knosher with 17 assists, Erin Yost with 14 kills and Maddi Jones with 15 kills and 15 digs.
