Benefit sale set for Oct. 6

DACULA — A benefit sale for Vicki Trotter is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at Hebron Christian Academy Campus, 570 Dacula Road, Dacula.

The event will feature a large amount of Coca-Cola memorabilia for sale as well as furniture, household items, small home appliances and electronics.

Organizers will be selling barbecue plates for $10 each.

Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HCA campus.

Advanced tickets can be purchased from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Hebron Church main office. Trotter is a church member who is ill.

Tickets available to hear author

LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett Technical College is sponsoring an event from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville with John C. Maxwell, author of “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth.”

According to a news release, the event features a “unique opportunity to hear from a world-renowned author who has published 72 books with over 21 million copies sold worldwide.”

Those interested in attending can register online at www.15lawsofgrowthatlanta.com. General seating for the event starts at $35.

A portion of event proceeds will benefit the Gwinnett Tech Foundation.

Corporate tables that seat seven are $1,365 for the VIP luncheon that includes premium seating at the morning presentation.

Volunteers needed for Public Lands Day

WINDER — REI, Georgia State Parks, Friends of Georgia State Parks along with the Yargo Area Biking Association will work together with volunteers, for the National Environmental Education Foundation’s National Public Lands Day.

This year’s NPLD event will be held at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, where volunteers will be working to improve both mountain biking and hiking trails.

Those coming should plan to arrive early with closed-toed shoes, long pants and long sleeves. Bring gloves and water.

The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friends of Georgia State Parks will provide lunch and Fort Yargo will waive the entrance fee for those volunteers who wish to stay. Park amenities include camping, hiking, mountain biking, geocaching, miniature golf, disc-golf, kayaking and canoeing. Register at www.rei.com/buford.
