SUWANEE -- Providence's volleyball beat South Gwinnett, Parkview and Archer in straight sets Saturday to win the silver bracket at the Gwinnett County Championships.
Maddie Jones led the Storm (20-9) with 35 kills. Alex Keller had 5 blocks, Katie Scott added 25 assists and Carly Dubay had 17 digs.
Parkview (10-14) defeated Central Gwinnett in two sets in its other matchup Saturday.
Riley Weyher had three aces, 13 kills and 15 digs for the Panthers. Justice Davis had 20 digs, and Cori Harber had 24 assits, five aces and seven digs.
Norcross 1-1 in gold bracket
SUWANEE -- Norcross beat Mountain View in two sets before falling to North Gwinnett in two on Saturday at the Gwinnett County Championships.
Javonne Stanfield led Norcross (27-4) with 16 kills and five blocks, and Sydney Marshall had 13 kills.
Lindsay Holmes contributed 17 digs, and Louisa Luranc had 10 digs.
North's Kristina Stinson had 13 kills on Saturday, including the 1,000th of her career. Carson Nevells added 12 kills for the Bulldogs (30-6).
GAC, Buford 1-1 at county tournament
SUWANEE -- Greater Atlanta Christian beat Buford to reach the gold bracket semifinals but fell to eventual champion Wesleyan in two sets Saturday at the Gwinnett County Championships.
Madison Kerr had 15 kills and Tayler McPherson had 11 kills to lead the Spartans (18-8). Emma Taylor had 12 digs and three aces, Emily Becker had 25 digs, and Jennie McCarty had 30 assists and three blocks.
GAC beat Duluth in its earlier match in the tournament Saturday. The Spartans (13-13) were led by Kaitlin Tatum, who had 14 kills and three aces.
Maggie Roper had nine kills, eight aces and 13 digs, and Tori Payton had 24 assists.
Peachtree Ridge wins two in Brookwood Invitational
SUWANEE -- Sarah Walker improved to 9-0 as Peachtree Ridge topped Woodstock 4-3 on Saturday in the Brookwood Invitational.
Walker pitched seven innings for the Lions (19-2), striking out five and giving up two earned runs.
Maiah Johnson went 1-for-2 at the plate.
The Lions also beat Union County 8-2 on Saturday.
Quinn Hill earned the win, pitching all seven and giving up two earned runs while striking out seven.
Johnson was 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs, and Savanna Turvy went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBIs.
Archer rallies twice for pair of wins
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer fell behind North Oconee 7-1 before rallying for a 9-7 win Saturday at the Brookwood Invitational.
Nani Cabrales picked up the win in relief for the Tigers (22-5). She pitched the final 4 innings, giving up no hits or runs and striking out two.
Alesha Mann hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth to give Archer its first lead of the game. She finished 2-for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Abby Lyall was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Andria Booth was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI, and Taylor Ockunzzi was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
The Tigers also trailed Hillgrove 3-0 in the first before coming back with two in the sixth and three in the seventh for a win.
Cabrales picked up the win, pitching all seven innings. She struck out seven and gave up eight hits and three earned runs.
Cabrales went 3-for-4 at the plate. Jacqui Switzer went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kristin Hawkins was 1-for-3 and drove in a run.
Central 8, Gainesville 0
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Faith Dickerson (8-10) held Gainesville to one hit in seven innings and struck out nine in Central Gwinnett's 8-0 win Saturday.
Jackie Finnegan went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Jazznee Cooper went 2-for-3 with four RBIs for the Black Knights (8-10). Aaja Matticx was 2-for-3 and scored a couple of runs.
Norcross 2-1 in Brookwood Invitational
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Norcross defeated Central Gwinnett and Gainesville before falling to Newnan in the Brookwood Invitational on Saturday.
The Blue Devils (8-13) hammered Central 15-3. Jenny DeJesus went 3-for-3 with two runs, and Rickary Holloman was 2-for-3 with three runs and four steals.
Norcross also won big against Gainesville with a 9-0 victory.
Vanessa Bradford pitched seven innings and gave up two singles while striking out 10. She went 3-for-4 with three RBIs on offense.
Hannah Laury was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Mackenzie Bradford was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Newnan handed the Blue Devils their lone defeat of the day in an 11-2 decision.
Holloman went 1-for-3 with a triple, RBI and run, and Courtney Corbin went 1-for-2 with a run.
Brookwood 4, Union Grove 0
SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood shut out Union Grove 4-0 on Saturday in the Brookwood Invitational.
Amanda Ablan picked up the win for the Broncos (17-9), giving up three hits and striking out five.
Mandy Blackwell led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Ansley Jones and Susan Norris both got a hit and RBI.
Megan Litumbe scored two runs, and Taiylor Rinehart had a hit for Brookwood.
Lanier 14, Johnson 0
SUGAR HILL -- Keisha Stone pitched a complete-game one-hitter for Lanier in a 14-0 win over Johnson of Gainesville.
Amberly Hayes was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Heather Kellett was 2-for-3 with six RBIs for the Longhorns (11-13-1).
North 3-0 in Brookwood Invitational
SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett conquered Houston County, Northgate and Allatoona on Saturday as part of the Brookwood Invitational.
In the 8-0 win over Houston County, Hannah Harrison got the win with 5 innings pitched, no hits and five strikeouts.
Drazen Sonnon had a double and three RBIs, and Mallory Koepke had a double and RBI for the Bulldogs (16-5-2).
North topped Northgate 3-1, led by Kinsley Jennings (8-0) in the circle with seven innings, five strikeouts, and four hits, lowering her ERA to 1.92.
Harrison had a double, Moriah Strother had two RBIs, and Sonnon had a double.
North required a little magic to come back against Allatoona, and Sonnon provided it with a three-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh for a 6-4 win.
Harrison got the win, giving up two hits in four innings to improve to 5-2. Her ERA is now 1.44.Sonnon hit a solo home run earlier in the game, and Kendall McKinney also hit a long ball for the Bulldogs.
Providence loses, ties at Milton Tournament
ALPHARETTA -- Providence fell to Eagle's Landing Christian Academy 7-2 before tying Decatur 5-5 on Saturday in the Milton Tournament.
Jessie Kowaleowicz went 1-for-3 in the ELCA game with an RBI double. Katy Barry was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and run for the Storm (4-16-2).
Brittany Tuttle, MacKenzie Tuttle and Alex Kennedy all had hits in the game.
MacKenzie Tuttle and Allison James both went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in the Decatur game.
Amber Roberts was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Barry was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and run, and Aubrey Gold was 1-for-2 with a steal and a run.
