Archer senior Randall Smith has made a commitment to the Jacksonville State men's basketball program. He is the first Tiger basketball player in the school's young history to commit to a Division I program.
Smith, the son of Laquina and Randall Smith, has started since he was a freshman on Archer's first basketball team. He helped the Tigers to the Sweet 16 in 2010-2011 and led them to 18 victories in 2011-2012.
He has over 400 career assists and is on track to surpass 1,000 career points this season. He was a 2010-2011 All Gwinnett County Scholar-Athlete and earned All-County and All-Region 8-AAAAA as a junior.
"Randall is an outstanding player and fierce competitor, but an even better young man," Archer boys basketball coach Tim Watkins said. "We are very fortunate to have had him help build the Archer program and are extremely proud of him."
