DULUTH -- After investigating the death of a woman found Friday next to the Gwinnett County Transit Center in Duluth, the Gwinnett County Police Department has called the incident a homicide.
According to police, Monique Marlowe was discovered between 5 and 5:30 p.m. behind the Hertz Rent-a-Car near the intersection of Satellite Boulevard and Merchants Way. Marlowe was a Hertz employee who police say was shot while attending to a vehicle.
She spoke to officers who arrived on the scene, telling them that a black man wearing a blue shirt shot her. Marlowe was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Located near Gwinnett Place Mall, the area where the body was found is next to the pick-up and drop-off point next to the Transit Center.
Police are looking for anyone who may have been in the area between 4 and 5:30 p.m. and saw anything unusual or suspicious. Witnesses can contact police by calling 770-513-5333 and leaving a message or by calling 911.
