SNELLVILLE -- Morgan Kosmala delivered a walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth to push Brookwood to a 3-2 win over Alatoona in the opener of the Brookwood Invitational on Friday night.
The Broncos (16-7) were led in the circle by Baylei Banfield who pitched all six innings striking out three and allowing one earned run.
In addition to Kosmala's game winner, Susan Morris collected two hits and an RBI in the victory.
Houston Co. 4, Norcross 0
LILBURN -- Norcross dropped a 4-0 decision to Houston County in their opener of the Brookwood Invitational on Friday.
Vanessa Bradford pitched well for the Blue Devils (6-12), giving up four hits and only one earned run in six innings. Bradford and Anna Palmer each contributed a hit for Norcross.
GAC 8, Lovett 0
ATLANTA -- Greater Atlanta Christian brought its hitting shoes downtown as they defeated Lovett 8-0 Friday night.
Jada Lake (6-5) pitched the Spartans to the win (9-8) by hurling a complete game, giving up four hits and striking out four.
Jordan Smalls had two hits, scored two runs and drove in four for GAC. Courtney Czentnar also had two hits and scored three runs while Anna Kane had two hits and an RBI and Caroline Oglesby had an RBI for the Spartans.
Archer wins two
SUWANEE -- Archer defeated Collins Hill and Blessed Trinity in its openers of the Brookwood Invitational.
The Tigers (20-5) took down the host Eagles 5-2 behind Nani Cabrales (11-2), who pitched only four innings due to the time rule, struck out four and collected two hits and an RBI at the plate.
Tahra Johnson had two hits and Kristin Hawkins had a hit and an RBI for Archer.
In the nightcap, Alliyah Williams (6-2) pitched 6 innings of shutout ball as the Tigers defeated Blessed Trinity 8-0.
Cabrales and Johnson were again the hitting leaders as they had three hits and three RBIs respectively.
North 6, West Forsyth 2
SUWANEE -- Kendall McKinney smacked two home runs and drove in five as North Gwinnett defeated West Forsyth 6-2 in their opener of the Brookwood Invitation played Friday on the North campus.
Kinsley Jennings notched the win for North (13-4-2) going the distance. Ashley Stephan, Amanda Shimin and Mallory Koepke each had two hits to help the Bulldog offense.
Providence 3, Pickens County 3
ALPHARETTA -- Providence Christian tied Pickens County 3-3 in the Milton Invitational on Friday night.
The Storm (4-15-1 )were led by Jessie Kowalewicz who had a pair of hits and a home run.
Allison James and Katy Barry each had a hit and an RBI. MacKenzie Tuttle pitched all six innings of the time-limit game. Tuttle did not allow an earned run and gave up three hits and struck out two.
