LAWRENCEVILLE -- Want to help raise money for local libraries while listening to a thriller writer while eating lunch? This week, you can.

On Wednesday, New York times best-selling author Stuart Woods is stopping by the Garden Plaza at Lawrenceville as part of the Gwinnett County Public Library's fundraiser, Lunch & Listen.

Woods will talk about his latest novel "Severe Clear" with his lead character Stone Barrington and his autobiographical book "Blue Water, Green Skipper," his memoir of his 1976 solo transatlantic journey. But don't expect for him to read from the books -- he never reads sections to the audience.

"I never read. I'm not that good of an actor," he said with a laugh. "I take questions audience and I talk about exactly what they want to hear about."

Woods was born in the town of Manchester and graduated from the University of Georgia, with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Since then, he's written 38 books.

He gets inspiration from everywhere, including his travels, people he meets and his imagination.

"I never have any troubles getting inspiration," Woods said.

Book sales at this fundraiser and tickets benefit the Gwinnett County Public Library. Space is limited, so advance purchases of tickets are encouraged. The doors open at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon.

According to a release, "the 'Lunch & Listen' series is a new way to bring authors and readers together, providing the ultimate food for thought with a wide range of authors -- from best-selling mystery writers to award-winning regional novelists to nonfiction and cookbook authors."
