LAWRENCEVILLE -- Police say a Lawrenceville man was blatant about his lewd conduct Sunday afternoon as he sat on a bench outside of a hotel.
Michael Payne, 31, was arrested on charges of public indecency after police allegedly witnessed him masturbating outside the lobby of a Holiday Inn Express at 520 John B. Wilson Court, off of Ga. Highway 120.
A clerk called police about 3 p.m. to complain of a suspicious man sitting on an exterior bench near the lobby. The man was not a guest but had been there for about an hour, the clerk told police.
An officer witnessed Payne unzip his shorts and begin masturbating, while facing the lobby, according to a police report.
As other police arrived and made contact with Payne, he started walking away but was quickly taken into custody, the report states.
Payne remained at the Gwinnett County Jail on $5,700 bond Monday.
