CARROLLTON -- Brookwood's boys and girls cross country teams swept the Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational on Saturday.
The girls won the championship race by scoring 37 points to beat runner-up McIntosh's 107 points. Payton Wilson led the Broncos by finishing third overall. She was followed by QuanDra Shanks, who was fourth, Ashley Buda was seventh, Holly Gunder was eighth, and Nina Thomason was 15th.
The boys also won the championship race, scoring 79 points to defeat St. Pius, Norcross and Leon (Fla.). The Broncos were led by Matthew McClintock's eighth-place finish, while Josh Ingalls was 12th, Ryan Massey was 13th, Jonathan Hanagriff was 20th, Jordan Hand was 26th, Nate Massey was 27th and Pedro Caballero was 30th.
North wins Collins Hill Classic
SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett defeated North Forsyth (25-13), Parkview (25-17, 25-18), Collins Hill (25-17, 25-18) and GAC (25-19, 25-19) to win the Collins Hill Classic on Saturday.
Kristina Stinson had 35 kills and 16 aces, Miller Howard had 42 kills, Matia Hughes added 34 kills and 87 assists, while MeKenzie Cronic had 41 digs for the Bulldogs (25-4).
GAC runner-up at Collins Hill Classic
SUWANEE -- Greater Atlanta Christian lost to North Gwinnett in the finals of the Collins Hill Classic on Saturday.
The Spartans (15-7) defeated Tucker (25-22, 25-10), North Hall (25-19, 25-18), No. 1 seed Milton (20-25, 25-18, 15-10) and lost to North (19-25, 18-25).
Madison Kerr led GAC with 33 kills and six aces. Emma Taylor had 24 kills and 32 digs, Tayler McPherson had 19 kills, and Emily Becker added 40 digs. Lynsey Holton and Jaimisha Patel each had six kills and Jennie McCarty had 65 assists and 37 digs.
Hebron wins silver bracket at Collins Hill Classic
SUWANEE -- Hebron defeated South Forsyth (25-12, 25-12), Mountain View (25-20, 25-20) and Appalachee (22-25), 25-23, 15-13) to win the silver bracket of the Collins Hill Classic on Saturday.
Eden Murray led the Lions (19-8) with 43 kills, 12 blocks and 10 aces. Bridgette Odull had 16 kills, Ashleigh Thomas had 12 kills, Alli Johnson added 10 kills and Anna Katherine Wilson had 78 aces.
Mill Creek wins Darlington tourney
ROME -- Mill Creek won the gold bracket of the Darlington Invitational on Saturday.
The Hawks (25-4) got wins over Houston County (25-23, 25-17), Dalton (25-15, 25-18), Brookstone (25-13, 25-7), Cartersville (25-14, 25-16) and Allatoona (25-13, 25-22).
Emily Wylie had 37 kills and Kayla Graham had 18 kills, 15 digs and eight aces. Both were named to the all-tournament team. Kaitlyn Lattimer had 58 assists, Audrey Hoffman had 23 kills, nine blocks and Brittany Moore had 20 digs.
Eagles win pair at tournament
SUWANEE -- Collins Hill defeated Apalachee (25-16, 25-21) and Hart County (25-21, 27-25), but lost to North Gwinnett (25-15, 25-17) in Saturday's Collins Hill Classic.
The Eagles (7-8) were led by Sam Rivera's 11 kills, 15 assists and four blocks. Jesse Price had nine kills, Chantel Odabi had five kills and Jenn Ahlswede had 22 assists.
Parkview goes 2-1 at tourney
SUWANEE -- Parkview defeated Hart County 25-14, 25-23 and Chamblee 25-27, 26-24, 15-10, but lost to North Gwinnett 17-25, 18-25 on Saturday at the Collins Hill Classic.
The Panthers (7-11) got six aces and 10 kills from Rachel Rust, while Cori Harber (five aces, six kills, 34 assists, 15 digs), Riley Weyher (23 digs, six aces, 13 kills), and Justice Davis (32 digs) also had big games.
Buford 5, Mt. Pisgah 1
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Bria Bush threw her 10th complete game of the year as Buford defeated Mt. Pisgah 5-1 on Saturday. Bush (11-1) threw four innings, allowing four hits, no walks, no earned runs and struck out five.
Drew Puckett went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Jordan Deep had a double and two RBIs, while Niki Long was 1-for-2 with a run for the Wolves (17-1, 5-0).
Wesleyan wins pair in Macon
MACON -- Wesleyan defeated Bacon County 9-1 and Calvary Day 10-8 at Mercer University of Saturday.
Against Bacon County, Amanda DeLaPerriere got the win, going five innings and allowing one earned run, six hits and striking out five. The Wolves (18-4) had 13 hits as a team and was led by Sydney Stone (2-for-4, two runs), Victoria Distasi (3-for-4, RBI, two runs), Riley Henning (1-for-2, three RBIs), and DeLaPerriere (2-for-3, RBI).
Haley Gleerup (four innings, four runs, six hits, two strikeouts) was the winning pitcher against Calvary Day and Dacia Jones got the save. CaraMia Tsirigos was 2-for-3 with and RBI and three runs, Distasi was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs and Jones was 4-for-4 with a three-run homer.
