Peachtree Ridge Lions (7-AAAAAA)
Coach: Mark Fleetwood
Last week: Had a bye
Duluth Wildcats (7-AAAAAA)
Coach: Corey Jarvis
Last week: Lost to South Gwinnett 37-21
Peachtree Ridge hasn’t gotten off to the start it wanted to this season. The Lions have yet to score a point this year and going back to last season have been shut out in three of their last four games.
Peachtree Ridge had a bye last week and used the extra time to fine-tune some things on offense.
“We tried to work on the things we aren’t doing very well,” Peachtree Ridge head coach Mark Fleetwood said. “We’ve got some issues. We’re trying to move some people around and get them in the right spots.”
The Lions travel to rival Duluth Friday, who they are 7-0 against all-time. Peachtree Ridge has won by 21 or more points the last six meetings
“The rivalry means a lot to our kids and I’m sure to their kids as well,” Fleetwood said.
Will DeLorenzo threw two TDs and two interceptions in Duluth’s loss last week. Receiver/kick returner Myles Campbell had a 55-yard TD.
“Myles is a big threat player and they are going to get the ball in his hands,” Fleetwood said.
Duluth’s Evan Ubakanma made 19 tackles last week, but will have to get past a massive Lions offensive line Friday.
“Offensively, the offensive line is huge,” Duluth head coach Corey Jarvis said. “We’re concerned about their size because we don’t match up with them.”
Last meeting: Peachtree Ridge 47-14 last season
