Berkmar Patriots (8-AAAAAA)
Coach: Jonathan Sanks
Record: 1-1
Last week: Beat Meadowcreek 56-6
Shiloh Generals (8-AAAAAA)
Coach: Troy Hobbs
Record: 2-0
Last week: Beat Redan 16-7
Berkmar head coach Jonathan Sanks felt like his team should have won its Week 1 game against Duluth. The Patriots made sure there was no doubt in last week’s 56-6 win over Meadowcreek.
“All we’re trying to do is get better every week,” Sanks said. “This is not the Berkmar of old where it’s 50-0 at halftime. We’re going to fight until the very end.”
Quaterback Jaquan Morris led the Patriots’ attack, throwing for 229 yards, three TDs and rushing for two more TDs.
“Their quarterback is unbelievable,” Shiloh coach Troy Hobbs said. “He scares me.”
Shiloh is off to its best start since 2008 under first-year coach Hobbs. A win Friday would make the Generals 3-0 for the first time since 1991.
“They last couple of weeks have been firsts for me,” Hobbs said. “We’re just going to give it our all. The community is excited about it.”
Shiloh defeated Redan last week despite turning the ball over four times. Receiver Cam Stewart had a big game with two catches for 65 yards and a TD.
Amari Newsome had eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.
“They have a lot of speed and athleticism,” Sanks said. “They like to blitz from everywhere. Hopefully we can block them.”
Last meeting: Shiloh won 55-28 last season
Directions to Shiloh High School: From Ga. Highway 78, go south on Bethany Church Road and school is on the right.
