PREP ROUNDUP: Stepp, Muirhead drive in key runs to lead Panthers past Comets

LILBURN -- Eryn Stepp tied the game with a home run in the seventh, and Taylor Muirhead pulled off a squeeze two batters later to drive in Amanda Chambers in Parkview's 5-4 win over South Gwinnett on Thursday.

Chambers doubled and reached third in the Panthers' (10-3, 3-2 Region 8-AAAAAA) seventh after a throwing error. Lexi Walker began the rally from a 4-2 deficit in the sixth with an RBI.

Chambers earned the win in relief, pitching 4 innings and striking out 12. Morgan Robinson went 2-for-4, Stepp was 1-for-4 and Chambers was 1-for-3.

SOFTBALL

Duluth 9, Mountain View 4

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Reina Sycamore went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs in Duluth's 9-4 win over Mountain View on Thursday.

Toni Perrucci also went 4-for-4 for the Wildcats (10-2, 2-1 Region 7-AAAAAA), and Jessica Brown went 2-for-3. Jeanie Perrucci struck out 10 and got the win in the circle.

Peachtree Ridge 8, Norcross 0

NORCROSS -- Quinn Hill held Norcross hitless in five innings Thursday as Peachtree Ridge topped Norcross 8-0.

Hill also struck out six in her peformance, improving her record to 7-2. She went 1-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

Julie McCallum added a double and RBI on offense for the Lions (14-2, 3-0 Region 7-AAAAAA).

North Gwinnett 13, Habersham Central 3

MOUNT AIRY -- Alaina Hall struck out seven and gave up no earned runs in North Gwinnett's 13-3 win over Habersham Central on Thursday.

Hall had two hits at the plate and drove in three for the Bulldogs (8-3-2, 2-1 Region 7-AAAAAA). Mallory Koepke also had two hits.

Kindall McKinney and Draven Sonnen both had two hits and two RBIS, and Katie Black had two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Central 22, Meadowcreek 8

NORCROSS -- Faith Dickerson got the win in the circle for Central Gwinnett in a 22-8 victory over Meadowcreek on Thursday.

Jaznee Cooper and Kayla Norris led the Black Knights (6-6) with 3-for-4 games and two doubles each. Jackie Finnegan was 2-for-4 with a home run, Aaja Matticx was 1-for-2 with a home run and Sydney Buchanan went 2-for-2.

Archer 13, Shiloh 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Nani Cabrales struck out 10 and gave up a hit in four innings as Archer topped Shiloh 13-0 on Thursday.

Alesha Mann went 2-for-2 with three runs, and Sydney Willhite was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for the Tigers (17-5, 6-0 Region 8-AAAAAA).

Grayson 10, Lanier 0

LOGANVILLE -- Bree Etheridge pitched four scoreless innings to get a win in Grayson's 10-0 victory over Lanier on Thursday.

Etheridge (3-4) struck out five and gave up one hit in her outing. Jen Stengler pitched an inning in relief and struck out two.

Taylor Denton led the Rams (9-11) on offense, going 1-for-1 with a walk, hit by pitch, three runs and five stolen bases.

Peyton Glover was 2-for-2 with two runs, and Amber Miller and Rachel Seasholtz went 1-for-3.

Buford 8, East Hall 0

GAINESVILLE -- Bria Bush pitched three scoreless innings and got the win in Buford's 8-0 win over East Hall on Thursday. Bush (9-1) gave up three hits and struck out four. Peyton Wolfe came on in relief for the Wolves (14-1, 5-0 Region 7-AAA) and pitched two innings, giving up one hit.

Remington Hasty and Jordan Deep hit back-to-back home runs in the third. Hasty was 3-for-3 with a home run, double, RBI and three runs, and Deep was 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs and a run.

Niki Cook went 2-for-2 with a run, RBI and stolen base, and Bekah Rude went 2-for-2 with a run and RBI.

GAC 10, Westminster 6

ATLANTA -- Greater Atlanta Christian rallied from a 6-2 deficit with four runs in the fifth and four in the seventh to beat Westminster 10-6 on Thursday.

Jada Lake struck out five in a winning performance in the circle for the Spartans (8-7, 2-1 Region 6-AA). She also scored two runs and drove in a run.

Courtney Czentnar had a double, triple, walk, three runs and an RBI for GAC. Stephanie McIntosh went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Mary Johnson was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Wesleyan 12, Lovett 4

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan stayed unbeaten in the region with a 12-4 win over Lovett on Thursday.

Dacia Jones got the win for the Wolves (16-4, 3-0 Region 6-AA), striking out four in 3 innings and giving up four runs and six hits. Haley Gleerup pitched 2 , giving up no runs and a hit while striking out two.

Katie Frerking went 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs and two RBIs, Victoria DiStaci was 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs. Jones went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and two runs, and Riley Henning went 2-for-3 with a walk, triple, two RBIs and two runs.

VOLLEYBALL

Eagles go 2-0 at Collins Hill Classic

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill beat North Oconee and George Walton Academy in three sets Thursday at the Collins Hill Classic.

Courtney Oster led the Eagles (7-7) with 16 kills, four aces and 11 assists. Sam Rivera had 12 kills, five aces and two blocks, and Jennifer Ahslwede had 22 assists and four aces.

Hebron, Parkview 1-1 at Collins Hill Classic

SUWANEE -- Hebron beat Parkview in three sets but fell to Hart County in two sets Thursday at the Collins Hill Classic.

The Lions (15-8) were led by Eden Murray's 25 kills and seven blocks. Bridgette Oduro had six kills, Ashleigh Thomas had five kills and Anna Katherine Wilson had 38 assists.

Parkview won its second match against South in two sets.

Cori Harbor had two aces, 33 assists and 10 digs, and Alli Taylor had 27 digs for the Panthers. Riley Weyher had 10 aces, 10 kills and 18 digs, and Rachel Rust had three aces, two kills and 11 digs.

Mill Creek sweeps two

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mill Creek won a pair of matches Thursday against Archer and Walnut Grove.

Emily Wylie led the Hawks (20-4) with 13 kills. Kayla Graham had eight kills, and Trinity Garmon had seven kills.

Kaitlyn Lattimer had 22 assists, Audrey Hoffman had 2 blocks, Carley Eiken had four digs and Brittany Moore had five digs.

Buford splits matches

BUFORD -- The Wolves got a win over Pinecrest Academy in two sets before falling to South Forsyth in three Thursday.

Maggie Roper led Buford (11-11) with 15 kills, 12 digs and five aces. Kaitlyn Tatum had 10 kills and three aces, and Tori Payton had 38 assists.

GAC beats Meadowcreek, North Hall

SUWANEE -- Greater Atlanta Christian topped Meadowcreek and North Hall in two sets at the Collins Hill Classic on Thursday to improve to 12-6.

Tayler McPherson led the Spartans with 15 kills, and Emma Taylor had nine kills and 21 digs. Lynsey Holton had three blocks, and Jennie McCarty had 33 assists and 18 digs.

Meadowcreek dropped its other game to Tucker, dropping the Mustangs' record to 3-9.

Shiloh defeats Grayson

SNELLVILLE -- Gloria Watson had two aces, seven kills and two digs in Shiloh's three-set win over Grayson on Thursday.

Kiana Palmer had four aces, a kill and two assists, Erica Lewis had an assist and two digs, and Kayln Ward had two aces, a kill, a solo block and a dig for the Generals (9-5, 2-2 Area 8-AAAAAA).

Jacqueline Harris had three aces, a kill, 13 set assists and a solo block, and Kinsasha Bell had three solo blocks and one assisted block. Briana Stith had an ace and two kills, and Brianna Campbell had two aces, three kills and five solo blocks.

Central splits at Berkmar

LILBURN -- Central Gwinnett fell in two sets to Stephenson before beating Berkmar in three sets on Thursday.

Berkmar's record is now 2-14 overall and 0-2 in Area 7-AAAAAA.
