SNELLVILLE -- A Shiloh High School student remained jailed Monday on charges she caused a melee last week that endangered students and staff, officials said.
Charnale Spense, 17, was arrested Friday by Gwinnett Public Schools police on charges of obstruction of law enforcement, disorderly conduct and disruption of a public school. She remained incarcerated Monday afternoon on $1,950 bond, according to jail records.
Spense is accused of running through the Snellville school's hallways Friday morning in search of another student with whom she wanted to fight. After finding the student in a gym class, Spense's "activities caused such a ruckus that it placed other students and teachers in physical harm," an arresting offer wrote in a warrant.
Spense allegedly became verbally abusive with students in the class, then brushed by and pulled away from a school resource officer trying to keep her from confronting other students, the officer wrote.
A hearing on the misdemeanor charges is slated for Friday in Gwinnett Magistrate Court.
