ATLANTA (AP) -- Officials with Atlanta's transit system say they are adding cameras to all of the system's buses, trains and mobility vans.
MARTA officials say that beginning next week, the system will have cameras on buses on seven routes during an initial phase of the project.
Crews this fall will install cameras on the rest of the 524 buses in the fleet. MARTA Police Chief Wanda Dunham says each bus will have nine cameras -- three on the outside and six on the inside recording audio and video.
Last year, after attacks on bus operators and robberies of passengers, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority board approved the $17 million overhaul. Some of the cost is being paid with grant funds from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

this still won't stop crimes on buses and trains. Easy to cover them up.
