AUBURN — A 4-year-old Auburn boy was killed in a tragic accident Monday night.
Auburn Police Chief Paul Nadeau said officers were called to the Mount Moriah Apartments at 82 Mount Moriah Road at about 6:50 p.m. There they discovered 4-year-old Xavier Franklin had been crushed by a cargo-style truck.
Nadeau said the boy and his 7-year-old brother had requested to take a ride in the back of their father’s work truck. The father drove them down a small roadway connecting apartment buildings and was rolling back down that road in neutral when the 4-year-old fell out.
The child was run over and killed at the scene. His brother did not fall out and was uninjured.
Nadeau said his department had conversations with the district attorney’s office and the Georgia State Patrol, and that no charges would be filed.
There were no alcohol or drugs involved in the incident, Nadeau said.
