PREP ROUNDUP: Buford volleyball wins three matches in Athens

ATHENS -- Buford defeated Rockdale, Athens Academy and Lakeview Academy but fell short of a sweep with a loss to Greenbrier on Saturday.

Maggie Roper led the Wolves (9-9) with 32 kills, 33 digs and 12 aces. Caitlin Tatum had 15 kills and 11 aces, Hannah Manley had 14 kills and Tori Payton had 59 assists and 11 kills.


Wesleyan splits at Georgia Challenge

ROSWELL -- Wesleyan beat Sprayberry and Creekview but lost to Walton and East Coweta at the Georgia Challenge on Saturday.

Lauren Frerking led the Wolves (14-8) with 20 kills and 11 digs, while Natalie Connor added five aces and 10 digs. Hannah Hoskins had 10 kills and 17 digs, Emma Bivings had five aces and 17 digs and Jennifer Miller had five aces and 42 digs.

Collins Hill struggles at Woodstock

WOODSTOCK -- Collins Hill dropped matches to South Forsyth and Lakeside in two sets and Mount Paran and Hillgrove in three sets on Saturday.

Sam Rivera led the Eagles (5-9) with 24 kills, three aces, seven blocks and 11 digs. Courtney Oster had four kills, 11 aces, 22 assists and 10 digs, Jesse Price had 15 kills, six blocks and 10 digs and Jennifer Ahslwede had 26 assists.


GAC goes 1-2 in Columbus

COLUMBUS -- Greater Atlanta Christian defeated St. Pius 9-4 on Saturday before dropping games to Brookstone 7-3 and Arrington 8-7.

Jada Lake was the winning pitcher for the Spartans (7-5) against St. Pius. With the bat, she hit a triple and drove in three runs.

Courtney Czentnar led at the plate with a 3-for-4 game with a double, two runs and three RBIs. Stephanie McIntosh had a hit, two RBIs and a run, Jordan Smalls and Grace DeBoer had a hit and two runs apiece, and Mary Johnson hit a double and scored a run.

Lake took the loss to Brookstone despite giving up just one earned run. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

DeBoer was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, Czentnar was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Johnson got a hit and an RBI, and Carly Perez added a hit and a run.

Lake also was the losing pitcher against Arrington in extra innings despite only giving up two earned runs.

DeBoer was 2-for-4 in the game with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Johnson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Caroline Oglesby went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Providence goes 1-2 at Pink Out Tournament

CUMMING -- Providence dropped games to Forsyth Central 7-6 and Lambert 12-4 before winning against Johnson-Gainesville 9-6 on Saturday.

MacKenzie Tuttle picked up the win for the Storm (4-14) against Johnson-Gainesville. Amber Roberts was key at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a three-run inside-the-park home run and an RBI single.

On the day, Jessie Kowalewicz led Providence, going 7-for-10 with two doubles, a triple, five RBIs and three stolen bases. Katy Barry was 3-for-9 with four runs and an RBI triple, and Brittany Tuttle got two hits, scored five runs, stole five bases and drove in a run.
