Matt Wyrick's 7-year-old North Gwinnett Football Association team has started the season in stellar fashion with a 2-0 record, winning on the road and most recently at home against Lawrenceville.
The offensive line, led by Nick Ward, Cooper Bothwell and Bryce Bothwell, helped quarterback Jackson Arnold run 52 yards for a go-ahead touchdown against Lawrenceville, one of three scores of at least 30 yards. North's defense didn't allow a first down, and Will Collins had a key fumble recovery late in the game.
The team consists of Thomas Arnold, Cooper Bothwell, Bryce Bothwell, William Collins, Tyler Gentry, Koty Hall, Nicholas Hester, Ayden Hudson, Austin Jackson, Chase Lamb, Jackson Lindsey, Benjamin Lusins, Cole Shively, Cristian Vakoutis, Nicholas Ward, Jackson Wyrick, and Parker Young. The coaching staff consists of Eric Gentry, Jeff Hester, Jamsey Collins, Todd Arnold, Matt Hudson and Will Ward. This is Matt Wyrick's first season as a head coach at NGFA. Last season, he was an assistant coach for the 6-year-old team.
The team's next game is against Lanier at George Pierce Park on Saturday.
