PREP ROUNDUP: Wesleyan comes back to get 6-5 win over Westminster

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan rallied from 5-0 down to beat Westminster 6-5 in softball on Thursday.

Dacia Jones (7-0) got the win for the Wolves (14-3, 1-0 Region 6-AA). She pitched 5 innings, giving up nine hits, four earned runs, one unearned run and striking out two.

Riley Henning was 2-for-2 and got the big three-run double in Wesleyan's four-run fifth when it gained the lead. Emily Farrow drove in the other fifth-inning run.

CaraMia Tsirigos went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Jones was 1-for-2 with an RBI double and a run.


Peachtree Ridge 3, Duluth 0

DULUTH -- Quinn Hill pitched seven shutout innings in Peachtree Ridge's 3-0 win over Duluth on Thursday.

Hill (7-2) gave up a lone hit, while striking out nine for the Lions (13-2, 1-0 Region 7-AAAAAA).

Kayla Jones led at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance including a home run, double and two RBIs.

Berkmar 21, Columbia 16

DECATUR -- Berkmar came out on top 21-16 in a slugfest with Columbia on Thursday.

Jasmine White pitched a complete game for the Patriots (3-3) to get a victory.

Meagan Naraine went 6-for-6 for Berkmar, and Aberiel Brown was 4-for-6.

GAC 5, Lovett 4

NORCROSS -- Courtney Czentnar drove in two runs and scored another as Greater Atlanta Christian got its first region victory with a 5-4 win over Lovett.

Jada Lake got the win for the Spartans (4-3, 1-0 Region 6-AA). She struck out eight and gave up four hits.

Mary Johnson had a double, RBI and run, Grace DeBoer scored two runs, and Jordan Smalls had an RBI and run.

Grayson 12, Shiloh 0

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson hammered Shiloh by a final of 12-0 on Thursday.

Bree Etheridge (2-4) got the win for the Rams (7-11, 2-3 Region 8-AAAAAA). Amanda Kemp closed out the final two innings, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Etheridge led the 10-hit performance for Grayson, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Amber Miller went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Taylor Denton and Sierra Smith were 1-for-2.

Amanda Kemp, Savannah Giddens and Beth Crawley each got a hit for the Rams.

Lanier 11, Chestatee 7

GAINESVILLE -- Keisha Stone pitched a complete game for her fifth win to lead Lanier over region foe Chestatee 11-7 on Thursday.

Stone also had a good night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with six RBIs for the Longhorns (9-9-1).

Holland Coursey went 3-for-4, and Hannah Coursey went 3-for-5. Each Lanier batter got a hit in the game.

Commerce 4, Providence 2

COMMERCE -- Commerce topped Providence 4-2 in a region matchup on Thursday.

Jessie Kowalewicz went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI to lead the Storm (3-12, 2-5 Region 8-A). Aubrey Gold was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Brittany Tuttle was 1-for-3 with a double, walk, stolen base and run, and Katy Barry went 1-for-3 with a double, walk and run.

Mill Creek 7, North 5

SUWANEE -- Heather Felt pitched six innings and struck out three in Mill Creek's 7-5 win over North Gwinnett on Thursday.

Felt also allowed four walks and six hits in her performance. Kaitlyn Howell recorded the save, striking out one and giving up a hit and walk in one inning.

Lauren Bennett led the Hawks (8-3-1, 1-0 Region 7-AAAAAA) at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance with a double and two RBIs. McKenzie Fagioli was 2-for-3 with a run, and Sarah Peery was 1-for-4 with a double, run, RBI and stolen base.

Archer 6, South 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Nani Cabrales struck out 11 in a complete-game win for Archer over South Gwinnett 6-0 on Thursday.

Cabrales (8-2) also gave up four hits. At the plate, she was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Brittany Marasette was 2-for-2 with a double and RBI for Archer (15-5, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAAA).

Collins Hill 12, Habersham Central 0

SUWANEE -- Aeshia Miles struck out seven in a 12-0 win for Collins Hill over Habersham Central on Thursday.

Miles gave up one hit as the Eagles improved to 10-2, 1-0 in Region 7-AAAAAA. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Brea Dickey and Reagan Morgan went 2-for-3 for Collins Hill.

Buford 5, White County 1

CLEVELAND -- Bria Bush (8-0) struck out nine and gave up one run in Buford's 5-1 win over White County on Thursday.

Drew Puckett was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for the Wolves (12-0, 3-0 Region 7-AAA). Bush was 2-for-2, Niki Cook was 1-for-3 with a run and stolen base, and Jordan Deep had a double, RBI and run.


Archer splits with Shiloh, Central

SNELLVILLE -- Archer came up short in a match against Shiloh on Thursday, but was able to beat Central Gwinnett.

Jannell Whitfield led the Tigers (9-4) with six kills, four blocks and four aces. Danae Jones added three kills and a block, and Maegan Roberts had two kills.

Machaela Sheffield had three kills and four aces, Tiffany Cash had 15 assists and four aces, Emily Little had 11 digs and two aces, and Akua Obeng-Akrofi had a kill and two blocks.

Norcross wins pair; Collins Hill drops two

MILTON -- Norcross earned a pair of wins Thursday with victories over Milton and Collins Hill, while the Eagles also dropped their matchup with Milton.

The Blue Devils (20-3) were led by Sydney Marshall's 19 kills and eight blocks. Kolby Meeks added 16 kills, Sammie Baker had 36 assists and Louisa Luranc had 12 digs.

Courtney Oster led the Eagles (4-6) with 10 kills and three aces. Jennifer Ahslwede contributed 11 assists and 12 digs.

Buford goes 1-2; North splits

JOHNS CREEK -- Buford got a win over Peachtree Ridge on Thursday, but dropped matches to Johns Creek and North Gwinnett. North fell in its game against Johns Creek.

Maggie Roper contributed 20 kills, 18 digs and seven aces for the Wolves (6-8). Kaitlin Tatum had 14 kills and 13 digs, Tori Payton had 40 assists, and Corbin Farr had 18 digs.

Kristina Stinson led the Bulldogs (17-4) with 22 kills and seven aces. Miller Howard added 20 digs, and MaTia Hughes had 45 assists.

Grayson tops South, Monroe

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson came away with a couple of wins Thursday against South Gwinnett and Monroe.

The Rams (5-9) were led by Kailyn Fuller's 18 kills and five aces and Geordyn Jenkins' 22 assists.

Brookwood falls to Roswell, Northview

ROSWELL -- Brookwood dropped to 6-11 with losses to Northview and Roswell on Thursday.

Leslie Stinnett had nine kills, Maggie Collins had 3 blocks and Hannah Kitchen had 26 assists for the Broncos.

Duluth splits matches

CUMMING -- Duluth dropped a match against North Forsyth before beating Cambridge on Thursday.

Katie Powell led the Wildcats (2-12) with 13 kills and five blocks. Lauren Cole added nine kills and two blocks.

Shiloh splits with Archer, Central

SNELLVILLE -- Shiloh dropped a match to Archer before prevailing over Central on Thursday.

In the Archer match, Gloria Watson had an ace, eight kills and two digs, Kiana Palmer had an ace and five kills, and Eric Lewis had three digs for the Generals.

Jaqueline Harris had three aces, a kill and 16 set assists, Kinsasha Bell had two kills and seven set assists, Briana Stith had two aces and six kills, Brianna Campbell had two aces a kill and two digs, and Desiree Aighobahi had one dig.

In the Central match, Watson had two aces and six kills, Palmer had an ace and three kills, Kayln Ward had an ace and a kill, and Harris had two aces and 11 assists.

Bell added an ace and two kills, Stith had a solo block, and Campbell had two aces, two kills and two solo blocks.
