SNELLVILLE -- Many people say that opposites attract: sweet and sour foods, good girls and bad boys, and even cats and dogs. But what happens when it's two roommates like Oscar Madison and Felix Ungar?

Beginning today, the New London Theatre presents "The Odd Couple" as its season opener, a comedy about the two men written by Neil Simon which was later turned into a television show.

Oscar (played by Larry Johnson) is a divorced, messy sportswriter who doesn't take life too seriously while Felix (Richard Diaz) on the other hand is an up-tight, neat, neurotic news writer, whose wife recently left him.

The men join together with other friends for a night of poker, which brings out more of Felix's obsessions, such as compulsive cleaning, perfect cooking and precision in his checkbook.

For some reason, the slob and the neat freak decide to move in together, but patterns of their own downfalls begin to reappear in their current situation which leads to laughs and chaos. The once best friends begin to become foes, but learn to adapt to each other's ways -- for now.

New London's next production is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," which opens Oct. 12. The story follows a couple who breaks down on the side of the road, searches for a place to use a phone and finds more than they could ever ask for -- Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his friends who are gathered for an annual convention.
