NORCROSS -- Laughter is the best medicine and it's the cheapest. At least, that's the OTC Comedy Troupe's motto and lucky for Gwinnettians in need of some belly chuckles, the improv group performs at Lionheart Theater on Saturday.
"We loved playing at Lionheart this summer and the fall is shaping up to include more games and new sketches," said OTC Artistic Director, Kelley Cody-Grimm. "We really enjoy the fun vibe of downtown Norcross."
If you've never attended an improv show, it's not like other performances. The actors on stage take suggestions from the audiences to create wacky scenes and scenarios. In essence, the shows are never the same.
The 90-minute show is part "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and part "Saturday Night Live" with signature bits like "ABC News" and "Sounds Like A Song." There are also new games which include volunteer audience members performing on-stage with the actors.
"If you missed OTC's last show at Lionheart, then mark your calendar for these shows, so much fun and so much laughter," said Tanya Caldwell, the artistic director of Lionheart Theater. "A good time was definitely had by all."
In addition to its YouTube and Funny or Die channels on the web, the OTC does full-length theater shows in venues throughout Georgia. The troupe has headlined at Atlanta's Punchline and has performed for such diverse corporate audiences as the Governor's Summit on Customer Service, Gwinnett Medical Center, Street Smarts, Duluth Merchants Association, Solvay International and the Attachment Disorder Network to name a few.
