North Gwinnett's Bob Sphire and Grayson's Mickey Conn were announced as coaches of the week Wednesday by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta. Sphire earned the Week 1 honor for the Bulldogs' win over Colquitt County in the Corky Kell Classic and Conn was the Week 2 winner after his Rams beat Miami Central in a showdown of nationally ranked teams.
They will be honored Monday in the club's weekly meeting at the Hudson Grille in Atlanta. The featured speaker is former Alabama head coach Gene Stallings. The club's other honorees at the event are Walton's Tyren Jones (back of the week), Marist's Greg Taboada (lineman of the week) and Kennesaw Mountain (team of the week).
