Jason Mendel of Norcross, Jacob Bayer of Lawrenceville and Harmanprit Kaur of Lawrenceville all won age group titles at last week's Athens Junior Shootout, a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour stop at The Georgia Club.
Mendel shot 73 and 68 to finish at 1 under par for a four-shot victory in the boys 15- to 18-year-old division. Duluth's Charles Huntzinger (71-75, tie for fourth) and Benjamin Shipp (72-76, tie for seventh) also had top-10 finishes in that age group.
Bayer, trailing by five shots after a first-round 76, rallied with a second-day 68 to win the boys 11-14 title by four shots. Buford's Sung Min Lee (74-73) tied for second and Dacula's Bennett McCarron (77-78) tied for seventh in that age group.
Kaur shot 68 and 70 to dominate the girls 11-14 division. Dacula's Annika Blanton (90-94) was fourth in that division.
In girls 15-18, Norcross' Diane Lim (80-73, third), Winder's Shelby Hanna (84-78, sixth), Norcross' Gracie Henderson (81-82, seventh) and Duluth's Sally Kim (85-79, tie for eighth) all had top finishes.
