ATLANTA -- A judge is set to sentence a former Gwinnett County commissioner, her son and another man after the three pleaded guilty to a bribery scheme.
Shirley Lasseter, her son John Fanning and her associate Carl "Skip" Cain are set to be sentenced Wednesday afternoon in federal court in Atlanta.
The three pleaded guilty in May to charges stemming from a scheme to accept bribes in exchange for Lasseter's influence and vote for a proposed real estate development in her district.
They each face a maximum of 10 years, supervised release of one to three years, payment of restitution and a maximum fine of $250,000 for the bribery charge.
Fanning and Cain also face a minimum of five years and up to 40 years for a drug trafficking charge.

I knew there was a reason why the county suddenly wanted to take control of the trash collection business. I think we now have a hint. Every commissioner who voted to take from the people the right to hire their own trash hauler should be voted out. No exceptions.

With the new allegations just out today, she deserves to rot in prison along with her son and the other commissioners who cheated the taxpayers for years!

BuzzG:
All the trash voters are out, Beadreau gone, Kenerly gone, Bannister gone, Nasuti gone, Lasseter gone.
Now let's see which ones will take a fall after Lasseter. i heard she was wearing a wire for one year.

Danny Porter and his team are to be commended, although I wish Bannister had not gotten away by resigning.
Keep up the good work to all current and future office holders, watch yourselves and stay honest!
Lassiter got 3 years, should have been 10!
