PREP ROUNDUP: Collins Hill shuts out West Forsyth 5-0

CUMMING -- Collins Hill improved to 9-2 on Tuesday night with a 5-0 shutout over West Forsyth in a non-region game.

Aeshia Miles struck out 10 in six innings of work in securing the win, walking just one and allowing one hit and no runs. Amanda Chance pitched the seventh inning and struck out two.

Keri Barrientos led the offense with a 3-for-3 night, including a triple, RBI and stolen base. Danielle Patterson and Brea Dickey each had a triple, while Payton Wilson finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

SOFTBALL

Kennesaw Mountain 4, Mill Creek 1

KENNESAW -- Kennesaw Mountain defeated Mill Creek 4-1 on Tuesday night in a non-region game.

Heather Felt started and went six innings for Mill Creek (7-3-1) in taking the loss, giving up four runs (two earned) on three walks and two hits with three strikeouts.

Leading hitters for Mill Creek were Taylor Rogers (2-for-3) and Carly Zabow (1-for-3).

Grayson 11, South 1

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson logged its first Region 8-AAAAAA win of the season on Tuesday night, topping South Gwinnett 11-1 in five innings in a continuation of a game suspended last Tuesday by rain.

Peyton Glover (1-1) was the winning pitcher, going four innings with one earned run on two hits with six strikeouts.

Offensive standouts for the Rams (6-10, 1-3) were Amber Miller (2-for-2, walk, three runs, two RBIs), Carley Batchelor (hit, three RBIs) and Rachel Seasholtz (hit, two RBIs).

Taylor Denton, Sierra Smith, Breanna Etheridge and Glover also had one hit each for the Rams (6-10, 1-3).

Parkview 10, Mary Persons 1

LILBURN -- Parkview starter Amanda Chambers recorded her eighth win of the year as the Panthers topped Mary Persons 10-1 on Tuesday in a non-region game, striking out eight along the way.

Morgan Robinson was 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs, while Grayson West and Ally Claytor each had two hits with one RBI for Parkview (9-1, 2-0).

Lanier 5, Stephens Co. 1

SUGAR HILL -- Lanier broke a three-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 5-1 win over Stephens County in a Region 8-AAAA game.

Hannah Coursey paced the offense for the Longhorns (8-9-1, 2-2), going 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, an RBI and two runs. Caylee Ramos threw a complete game for her fourth win of the year.

Wesleyan 18, Decatur 5

DECATUR -- Wesleyan collected 16 hits on Tuesday night as the Wolves ran away with an 18-5 win over Decatur in a non-region game.

CaraMia Tsirigos went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs to lead the Wolves (13-3), while Dacia Jones went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer. Emily Farrow also had two hits with three RBIs and a run, while Lillie Baker finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs.

Hope Morgan recorded three hits, getting two RBIs with a stolen base and a run. Picking up the win was Amanada DeLaPerriere, who went five innings with three earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.

Providence 17, Towns Co. 5

LILBURN -- The Providence offense forged 11 hits and drew six walks on Tuesday as the Storm rolled to a 17-5 win in four innings over Towns County in Region 8-A. Katy Barry kept the offense rolling, going 2-for-3 with a double, three stolen bases, three runs and two RBIs. Brittany Tuttle added two more hits and stole two bases, scored three runs and drove in one.

Aubrey Gold (2-for-4, three RBIs, run) and Averie Ross (hit, two RBIs, run) also contributed at the plate, while MacKenzie Tuttle recorded the win, giving up three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs.

Providence improved to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in the region.

VOLLEYBALL

Norcross wins first two area matches, Meadowcreek splits

NORCROSS -- Norcross opened its Area 8-AAAAAA schedule on Tuesday with a pair of wins, sweeping Shiloh 25-17, 25-17 and Druid Hills 25-15, 25-10.

Sarah Ann Gratwick paced the attack with 15 assists, with Shelby King taking advantage of those for nine kills. Angel Acosta recorded nine digs and Emma Wheaton chipped in with six aces. Norcross improved to 18-3 overall and 2-0 in the area.

Meadowcreek (3-5, 1-1) also made its area debut and came with one win and one loss, sweeping Druid Hills but falling in two games to Shiloh 8-25, 17-25.

Leaders for Shiloh (5-4, 1-1) were Gloria Watson (24 digs, 12 assists), Erika Lewis (28 digs, eight assists), Jackie Harris (47 assists, 24 digs, 10 aces), Kinsasha Bell (nine kills) and Briana Stith (17 digs).

Buford tops Decatur, West Hall

DECATUR -- Buford notched a pair of Area 5-AAA wins on Tuesday night, beating Decatur in two games 25-15, 25-11 and sweeping West Hall 25-17, 25-17.

Tori Payton had 25 assists to lead Buford (5-6, 2-0), while Maggie Roper added 13 kills and 12 digs. Kaitlin Tatum also played well with nine kills and three blocks, while Corbin Farr had 10 digs.

GAC sweeps Providence

NORCROSS -- Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 8-4 on Tuesday night with a three-game sweep over Providence, taking the match 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.

Top performers for the Spartans were Madison Kerr and Tayler McPherson each with 15 kills, Emma Taylor with 21 digs, Emily Becker with 20 digs and three aces and Jennie McCarty with 33 assists.
