Mr. Black was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 23, 1938. He was preceded in death by his father, Terrence Ferry and his mother, Velma Clifford Brown. Mr. Black was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the Kraft Foods Corporation with 19 years of dedicated service. He was a member of The Torch, a 32nd degree Mason, and Scottish Rite. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kay A. Black, Clarkesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Black Reid and Charles, Sugar Hill, GA; daughter, Stacy Kay Black, Clarkesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Don Black, Jr. and Rhonda, Winder, GA; sister, Renee Black, Clarkesville, GA; brothers, Thomas A. Black, Lawrenceville, GA and Frank Ruckle, Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Charles Matthew Reid, Edwin Daniel Reid, Riley Hayes Black, and Jared Harris Black; and great-grandchild, Gavyn Matthew Reid. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at The Torch, with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post #84, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15, and the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
