DULUTH -- This year, Grandparents Day falls on Sept. 9. In celebration of those grandparents who taught you how to cook, knit, fish and do everything else fun, the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center is hosting the "Back When I Was a Kid ..." program on Saturday at the McDaniel Farm.
"This is a special program for families, especially grandparents and grandchildren," said Catherine Long, GEHC history and culture program manager. "Visitors can enjoy a tour of McDaniel Farm and learn about the type of fun their grandparents experienced as kids."
Attendees have a chance to step back in time by exploring the 1930s heritage farm, examine tools and technology from Gwinnett's early days in farming, and eat homemade ice cream.
There is also an opportunity to make a family scrapbook while listening to your grandparents reminisce about when they were kids.
Admission cost is $5 per person and children ages 3 and under are free. The programs runs from 10 a.m. to noon. Guests can register in advance at www.gwinnettEHC.org or by calling 770-904-3500.
McDaniel Farm is located at 3251 McDaniel Road in Duluth.
