Gwinnett Gladiators' Mike Lee was named the ECHL goaltender of the week for Oct. 22-28 on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old went 2-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .955, helping the Gladiators move into first place in the South Division.
Lee opened the week with 17 saves to record his first professional shutout in a 3-0 win at Evansville on Oct. 24. On Friday, he made 18 saves in a 4-2 win at Fort Wayne and he ended the week with 29 saves in a 1-0 loss against the Komets onSaturday.
A native of Roseu, Minn., Lee was a third-round selection (91st overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2009 NHLdraft. He spent the previous three seasons at St. Cloud State, posting an overall record of 32-29-9 with four shutouts, a 2.65 goals-against average and a save percentage of .917.
Lee also was part of the United States gold-medal squad at the 2010world junior championships, where he saw action in five games, posting a goals-against average of 2.50 and a .908 save percentage.
The Gladiators are at home for three games this week, starting tonight at 7:05 against Orlando. They play Elmira on Saturday and South Carolina on Sunday.
