Peachtree Corners councilman nominated to CID board

PEACHTREE CORNERS -- Post one council member Phil Sadd was nominated to the board of the Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District during Tuesday's special called city council meeting.

With the city of Peachtree Corners on board with the CID, a space on the board was available to a representative of the city.

"I'm honored and I think it's a great opportunity to bring improvement to our community," Sadd said. "The CID is putting a lot of focus on our community and I want to make sure we have a strong voice."

Mayor Mike Mason said Sadd was the most logical choice for the position considering the CID runs through his post.

"I can't think of anyone better at this time to represent us," Mason said. "If in the future Phil finds a property owner who wants to volunteer for the position, he can hand it off at that time."

In other business, the city will have its official unveiling of city hall on Dec. 2. During the unveiling, the city will also unveil its new logo and tagline. "Residents will have an opportunity to meet our city manager and our planning developer, and hopefully our city clerk," Mason said. "It's a chance for everyone to come out and see it.

"Plus, we're going to be issuing a few proclamations that day to thank all of the volunteers who helped get this city up and running."

The city also approved and adopted resolutions that authorized membership in the Georgia Municipal Association Workers Compensation Self-Insurance Fund, Defered Compensation Plan and Defined Compensation Plan, which covers either retirement accounts or insurance costs for city employees.

The Nov. 6 meeting was also moved to Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. due to the national election.
