Gwinnett Daily Post
The Gwinnett Gladiators, in conjunction with USA Hockey and the Duluth Ice Forum, are offering boys and girls ages 4-9 a chance to try hockey for free Saturday at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
The session will be from 12:25 to 1:25 p.m. for kids who have never participated in organized hockey.
"This is a great opportunity for kids in our community to take to the ice and for their parents to get some information on how to get their kids playing one of the most exciting and fun games on earth," Gladiators president Steve Chapman said. "Hockey is addictive and kids love it because they are constantly moving and hustling. Both of my kids, a boy and a girl, have been skating almost since they could walk."
There will be equipment on hand, including skates, a stick, a helmet and gloves. Gladiators coaches will be there to answer questions as well. There are a limited number of spaces available and they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kids who participate in the program also will receive, free of charge, a hockey jersey, a goodie bag and a ticket to the Gladiators game that same night at 7:05 against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Gladiators will offer additional game tickets to the parents and family members of each participating kid at a discounted price.
To register, parents should sign up their kids by visiting the Gladiators website, www.gwinnettgladaitors.com. For more information, email phoulihan@gwinnettgladiators.com.
