Ga. voter says another person voted in his place

COLUMBUS — Election officials in Muscogee County are investigating a Columbus voter's complaint that another person was allowed to cast a ballot in his place during early voting.

Willie J. Tate went to vote Tuesday at the Columbus Baptist Association and was turned away after being told records showed he had already voted four days earlier.

County elections director Nancy Boren says whoever voted in Tate's name showed a driver's license that matched his voter registration. Tate's family says he couldn't have voted previously because he was in the hospital the day the ballot was cast.

Tate was allowed to cast a provisional ballot Thursday. Boren says the elections board will count that vote if it determines an imposter voted in Tate's name earlier.
