LAWRENCEVILLE -- On Oct. 18, the Georgia Recreation and Park Association, District 7 gave out two awards. One for leadership, the other for volunteerism.

The Roy A. Hammond Leadership Award was given to David Clark, deputy director of park operations for Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, for his 37-year career enhancing parks and recreations in the state of Georgia, including in Gwinnett.

The GRPA District 7 Volunteer Award was given to Gregg Peters, a volunteer youth coach for the GCPR athletic program, the Mustang Athletics. He was the 2010 Volunteer of the Year, and won the 2011 and 2010 Gold Presidential Volunteer Award which is given to those who volunteer more than 500 hours in a given year.

"Gregg is an incredible asset to GCPR and the Mustang Athletics community," said Tina Fleming, Parks and Recreation operations division director.
