GAB: Woman's Club holds panel on human trafficking

LILBURN -- The Lilburn Woman's Club is sponsoring an event at Lilburn City Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The topic is "Human Trafficking of At-Risk Adults," featuring Forensic Special Investigator Pat King and Information and Assistance Specialist Adrienne Noble.

The event also includes the topic: "How You Can Make a Difference," featuring Pat Baker, director of Gwinnett County Health and Human Services; "Building an Informed, Support Community for Senior Services," by Rosalind Bennett, president of Gwinnett Council for Seniors and board member of Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services.

Local girl raises money to end global poverty

SUWANEE -- Aliya Nurani of Suwanee has helped raise more than $300 to be donated to the Aga Khan Foundation for innovative programs that create hope and opportunity for disadvantaged communities in the developing world.

Her club, the Peachtree Ridge Partnership Club, aims to raise more than $500 before a Partnership Walk at Centennial Olympic Park.

Partnership Walk, an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation, raises money and awareness to end global poverty.

The annual event is hosted in numerous cities across the country and features a 1K walk, 5K run, food and entertainment.

AARP Safe Driver Course is Thursday

LAWRENCEVILLE -- During the month of November, a classroom course designed to teach driver safety is free to veterans, active-duty and retired military service members, their spouses, dependents, children and widows or widowers.

The cost for others is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Checks are preferred, payable to AARP. Please bring a sack lunch. Drinks will be provided.
