MARIETTA — Authorities say more than a dozen children were hurt when a school bus and a car collided near downtown Marietta, just northwest of Atlanta.
Police say a 12-year-old boy in the car was taken by helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite after the Friday morning wreck. Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said that the child's injuries are considered life-threatening.
Baldwin said 13 children on the bus were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Their injuries were described as not life-threatening.
Baldwin said two students were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The other 11 were taken to the hospital on another bus.
Marietta City Schools spokesman Thomas Algarin said 37 students were on the bus heading to Marietta High School when the crash occurred.
