Halloween is a time for fun, costumes and eating way too much candy.
But, the Better Business Bureau warns, it is also a time to remember safety. The BBB has issued a list of Halloween tips to keep all the little ghouls and goblins safe and sound during the holiday.
Below is a portion of the tips which, in their entirety, follow the acronym of "S.A.F.E. H.A.L.L.O.W.E.E.N." For the full list, visit atlanta.bbb.org.
-- Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you
-- Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating. Always walk, don't run, from house to house
-- Wear well-fitting masks, costumes and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips and falls
-- Enter homes only if you're with a trusted adult
-- Never walk near lit candles and luminaries. Be sure to wear flame-resistant costumes
-- Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them
-- Swords, knives and similar costume accessories should be short, soft and flexible
-- Always test makeup in a small area first. Remove makeup before bedtime to prevent skin and eye irritation
-- Only walk on sidewalks whenever possible, or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe
