Atlanta school system probes more cheating allegations

ATLANTA — Atlanta school district officials say they're investigating allegations of cheating at North Atlanta High School, where parents have objected to recent changes in the administration.

Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Stephen Alford said Thursday that investigators are looking into several anonymous complaints that alleged improper grade changing.

A school system memo states that the investigation began Oct. 19, about two weeks after top administrators at the school were replaced. The memo was obtained by local news outlets.

The school system recently removed North Atlanta High's interim principal, an assistant principal and other administrators, touching off protests.

Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis said that removing the administrators had nothing to do with the allegations of grade changing. Davis said a district auditor will look into the grade-altering allegations.
