Open since: January 2010
Owners: Eric and Rob Heidt
Location: Cheeseburger Bobby's is at the intersection of Peachtree and John's Creek parkways, next to Applebee's.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays
Atmosphere: Cheeseburger Bobby's is fast food -- but a little different.
"We're considered fast casual," owner Eric Heidt said. "You order and pay, then you get your food."
Food averages about five minutes from when you order to pick up. And although it is a fast-food environment, guests are still taken care of after they pick up their meals. Employees walk around cleaning tables, refilling drinks and offering "fry walks."
"That's when we walk around with a bowl of (fresh) french fries and say, 'Don't eat those cold fries -- eat these hot fries,'" Heidt said. "I'm a hamburger guy who really likes the burger bar environment. We are definitely different. If you talk to our customers, they don't look at us as the greasy burger joint."
Everyone is welcomed into the restaurant, especially families with children. There is a kid's menu for the little ones, large booths that fit six people and frozen custard for dessert.
Menu: It all starts with a fresh 100 percent beef patty that is cooked when ordered -- with bacon, cheese, chili, whatever -- and ready for pick up. The rest of the topping are up to you, which are found at the "burger bar."
"The biggest thing for us is absolutely everything is fresh at all times," Heidt said. "Our meat is locally ground ... in Marietta. All the vegetables that go in the burger bar, unless it's pickled, comes in fresh and we cut it up."
The burgers come with a side of french fries -- and it's not just any fried spud. Each potato is hand cut daily.
"We've got 20 boxes of potatoes sitting up front and every single day, we go through 350 pounds of potatoes," Heidt said. "That's taking them one at a time, sticking them in a potato cutter in the back and punching them out."
The beef is delivered three to four times a week, fresh baked buns come in six days a week and vegetables are sent to the store almost daily.
"The health inspector likes us because we don't have anything that sits around," Heidt said with a laugh. "It comes in and it goes right back out."
There are also veggie and turkey burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and hot dogs available for purchase.
Things you might not know: Another Cheeseburger Bobby's will open in Peachtree Corners in mid-November.
